2 / The United Kingdom declared that the Convention "shall apply to the Registers of British Ships registered in ports of register in the United Kingdom and, inter alia, in Bermuda".

4 / Approval by the Netherlands was declared to be effective in respect of the Netherlands Antilles.
5 / The Convention entered into force for the Federal Republic of Germany (FRG) on the 23 October 1979 and for the German Democratic Republic (GDR) on 24 September 1986. On 3 October 1990, the GDR acceded to the FRG to form one sovereign State which remains the Party to the Inmarsat Convention under the designation " Germany".

8 / By a Note dated 17 June 1997, the Government of the People's Republic of China stated that, with effect from 1 July 1997, the Inmarsat Convention shall apply to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
9 / The Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia became a Party to the Inmarsat Convention on 27 September 1990. By an Instrument of Succession dated 19 February 2002, in conformity with international law and practice, the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, as a successor State to the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, considers itself bound, as of April 27, 1992, i.e. the date on which the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia became an independent State, by the multilateral international treaties to which the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia was a Party on that date, including reservations and declarations to their provisions made earlier by the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. This instrument of succession applies to the Convention on the International Mobile Satellite Organization (formerly called the Convention on the International Maritime Satellite Organization (INMARSAT)), as amended. By Diplomatic Note dated 5 February 2003, IMSO was informed that the name of the State of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia was changed on 4 February 2003 to Serbia and Montenegro. By Diplomatic Note dated 6 June 2006, IMSO was informed that, following the declaration of the state independence of Montenegro, the Republic of Serbia is the continuing international personality of the state union of Serbia and Montenegro
